Lexington
kvilledave asked:

I have an original Navy recruiting poster from 1973 showing Don Garlits with his dragster posing on the flight deck of the USS Lexington aircraft carrier. It appears the deck is constructed of wood. I would like confirmation on this from a reliable source.
Addendum: Aircraft carriers initially had wooden decks, but this was phased out some time after the Korean War, but possibly not across the board all at once. Rather it would have been ship-by-ship. 1973 was a transitional period for the Navy.
